Encephalitis Lethargica

When I read about this disease and I saw an image of a young girl frozen still, I thought of the nursery rhyme below.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the lord my soul to keep,
and if I die before I wake,
I pray the lord my soul to take.

I like it she seems coming from the 1920 or from the other side of the light! Nice!

Encephalitis Lethargica was a huge epidemic in the late teens and 20's and millions worldwide were affected. It's a very interesting piece of history and well worth looking into. Have you seen the movie Awakenings?

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you caught that she was from the 20's. = )

It would be interesting to hear about what your mom remembers. I used to bug my great aunt a lot by asking her about the 1918 influenza. She and her family lived through it and I guess my grandma, who was 7 at the time, pretended to be a nurse to her sisters. My great aunt is 101 now!
